The McLaren Formula E motor is a permanent magnet AC (PMAC) synchronous motor/generator with high max speed and high specific power. The McLaren Formula E motor and motor control unit are produced for use in all (about 40) Formula E race cars in the 2014/2015 race season.

The McLaren E-Motor and MCU-500 motor control unit are intended for use in HEVs and EVs. (The McLaren E-Motor is based on (or basis of) the McLaren Formula E Motor.)
