The proof-of-concept Pipistrel Taurus G4 won the $1.65M 2011 CAFE/NASA Green Flight Challenge (GFC) contest, beating 12 other teams whose entries included electric, gasoline, bio-diesel, and hydrogen powered airplanes. The Taurus G4 flew 200 miles non-stop with 403.5 passenger miles per gallon (MPG) efficiency.
