The Boeing Fuel Cell Demonstrator Airplane (FCDA) is a proof-of-concept series hybrid electric conversion of a Diamond Aircraft HK36 Super Dimona motorglider, with a hydrogen fuel cell system as range extender (RE) to augment electrical power from the battery pack.

Project status: The Boeing Fuel Cell Demonstrator Airplane has flown (in February and March 2008) under battery and fuel cell power (for takeoff) as well as fuel cell power alone (cruising at altitude). The project has been discontinued and the EC-003 airplane is on display at the Future of Flight Aviation Center in Everett, WA.
